Every reply situation is different. Quickfix AI lets you customize responses by adjusting the reply length and adding custom instructions for personalization. The AI automatically adapts its tone and style to match the context, while you control the length and provide specific guidance.

The length setting controls how long your generated reply will be. Choose the option that matches your needs and the context you're replying in.

  • Short: 1-2 sentences—use for quick acknowledgments, Twitter replies, and brief comments

  • Medium: 2-4 sentences—works for most situations including Reddit comments and casual emails

  • Long: Full paragraphs—use for detailed emails, comprehensive explanations, and in-depth responses

The AI will automatically match the appropriate tone for the platform and conversation. A Twitter reply will sound casual, while a LinkedIn comment will be more professional—even with the same length setting.

Custom instructions

Custom instructions let you personalize how the AI writes replies. Add specific guidance about your communication style, expertise, or preferences, and the AI will incorporate it into every response.

To set custom instructions, open the Quickfix AI side panel, click Settings, scroll to Custom Instructions, and enter your preferences. Your instructions will apply to all future replies until you change them.

Example custom instructions

  • "I'm a software engineer—use technical language when appropriate"

  • "Keep replies friendly and conversational, avoid corporate speak"

  • "I prefer concise responses that get straight to the point"

  • "Include relevant examples when explaining concepts"

The more specific your instructions, the better the AI can match your personal style. You can update your instructions anytime as your preferences change.

Site templates: Your length settings are automatically saved per website (enabled by default). Change the length on Reddit and it'll be saved for all Reddit pages. Custom instructions apply globally across all sites.

Using the Tweak button

After generating a reply, you'll see a Tweak button below it. This lets you refine the style conversationally without regenerating the entire response.

Click the Tweak button and tell the AI what to change: "make it more friendly", "shorter", "more professional", "add an example". The AI will adjust the reply based on your feedback while keeping the core content.

Tweaking uses less of your daily limit than regenerating from scratch, making it perfect for small adjustments to get the reply just right.

Tips for better customization

Start with Medium length for most situations. Only adjust to Short or Long when you have a specific need. Medium works well for social media, emails, and most online conversations.

Use custom instructions for persistent preferences. If you find yourself making the same style adjustments repeatedly (like "be more casual" or "use fewer emojis"), add it to your custom instructions instead.

Look at the context

Check how others are replying in the thread. If everyone's writing short, casual responses, use Short length. If it's a detailed technical discussion, use Medium or Long. The AI will match the appropriate tone automatically.
