Quickfix AI can improve text you've already written in addition to generating new replies from scratch. When you click the Quickfix AI icon in a field that already contains text, the extension switches to Improve Reply mode. This mode takes your existing draft and enhances it while preserving your original meaning and intent.
How Improve Reply mode works
Improve Reply mode is perfect for polishing rough drafts, fixing grammar and spelling, adjusting tone, or making your writing clearer and more professional. Instead of starting from scratch, Quickfix AI works with what you've already written.

Type your draft message in any text field
Click the Quickfix AI icon in the field
The panel opens with "Improve Reply" button instead of "Generate Reply"
Adjust Length and Custom Instructions if needed
Click "Improve Reply" to enhance your draft
Review the improved version and click Insert to replace your draft
The improved version keeps your core message but enhances clarity, grammar, and tone. Your original meaning stays intact.
When to use Improve Reply
Use Improve Reply when you have rough ideas written down but want them polished before sending. It's also useful for fixing grammar mistakes in text you typed quickly, adjusting the tone to be more professional or casual, or making complex explanations clearer without rewriting from scratch.
Pro tip: You can still use the Tweak button after improving your text. Click Tweak and give feedback like "make it shorter" or "sound more friendly" to refine the improved version even further.
Improve vs Generate
The key difference is what Quickfix AI starts with. Generate Reply mode reads the conversation context and creates a brand new response for you. Improve Reply mode takes your existing draft as the starting point and enhances it. Both modes support custom instructions, length settings, and the Tweak button for refinement.
Switching between modes
To switch from Improve Reply back to Generate Reply, delete all text from the field. The Quickfix AI panel will automatically switch to "Generate Reply" mode. To switch from Generate to Improve, type or paste text into the field before clicking the Quickfix AI icon.
Tips for better results
Don't worry about perfect grammar in your draft. Quickfix AI will clean it up. Focus on getting your main ideas down. The more context you provide in your draft, the better Improve Reply understands what you're trying to say.
You can even start with super casual notes like "lol ok", "nvm figured it out", or "yeah that works thx" and Improve Reply will turn them into proper responses. Perfect for when you're typing fast and just want to get your thoughts down without worrying about how it sounds.
If the improved version changes your meaning too much, use the Tweak button to guide it back. Try feedback like "keep my original wording for the first sentence" or "don't change the technical details".
