Quickfix AI automatically turns itself off on certain websites to prevent compatibility issues with login pages, checkout flows, and payment forms. This feature protects you from potential problems with authentication services and financial transactions. When compatibility mode is active, you'll see a notification in the side panel explaining why the extension is disabled, and you can override it if needed.

What is compatibility mode?

Compatibility mode is a safety feature that automatically disables Quickfix AI on pages where browser extensions can interfere with sensitive processes. Browser extensions that modify page content can sometimes cause issues with single sign-on services, payment processors, and identity verification systems.

When you visit a protected page, Quickfix AI detects it and turns itself off automatically. You'll see a blue information banner in the side panel letting you know the extension is in compatibility mode.

Which pages are protected by compatibility mode?

Quickfix AI protects three types of pages automatically.

Authentication and login pages

Pages where you sign in to services, including Google accounts, Microsoft logins, corporate SSO portals, and identity provider pages. These pages often have strict security requirements that can conflict with browser extensions.

Payment and checkout pages

Checkout flows, payment forms, and billing portals. Payment processors like Stripe and PayPal need to load without interference to ensure secure transactions and prevent payment errors.

Protected domain patterns

Quickfix AI recognizes common patterns in URLs that indicate sensitive pages. For example, any domain starting with sso., login., or checkout. is automatically protected, regardless of the parent domain.

Good to know: This feature is turned on by default to protect all users. You can turn it off completely in settings if you prefer to manage this manually.

How to override compatibility mode on a specific site

If you want to use Quickfix AI on a page that's in compatibility mode, you can override the protection for that specific domain.

  1. Visit the page where compatibility mode is active

  2. Click the Quickfix AI extension icon in your Chrome toolbar

  3. In the side panel, look for the blue compatibility mode banner

  4. Click the toggle switch at the top to turn on Quickfix AI

  5. The page will reload with Quickfix AI enabled

Once you override compatibility mode for a domain, Quickfix AI will remember your choice and stay enabled on that site. You can turn it back off anytime using the same toggle switch.

How to turn off automatic compatibility mode

You can disable the automatic protection feature if you want complete control over which sites run Quickfix AI.

  1. Click the Quickfix AI extension icon in your toolbar

  2. Click the gear icon at the top to open Settings

  3. Go to the Websites tab

  4. Scroll to the Compatibility section at the bottom

  5. Turn off "Auto-disable on login and payment pages"

With this setting turned off, Quickfix AI will run on all websites unless you manually turn it off for specific domains.

Why compatibility mode exists

Some websites have strict security requirements for login and payment flows. Browser extensions that inject content or modify the page can trigger security warnings, cause authentication failures, or interfere with payment processing.

Compatibility mode prevents these issues by automatically stepping aside when you're on sensitive pages. This ensures you can log in to services smoothly and complete purchases without errors, while still having Quickfix AI available everywhere else.

The feature is especially important for enterprise users who need to access corporate SSO portals or government services that have strict security policies about browser extensions.

What to do if you see compatibility mode unexpectedly

If Quickfix AI enters compatibility mode on a page where you don't think it should, you have a few options.

First, you can override it for that specific domain by toggling the switch in the side panel. Quickfix AI will remember your override and stay enabled on that site going forward.

Second, if you find the automatic protection too aggressive for your needs, you can turn off the feature entirely in Settings under the Websites tab. This gives you complete manual control over which sites run Quickfix AI.
