You can turn off Quickfix AI on specific websites if you don't want the extension active there. When you turn it off, the extension completely disables itself on that domain and won't show the icon or detect text fields. This is useful for websites where you prefer to write without AI assistance or where the extension interferes with the page.

How to turn off Quickfix AI on a website

  1. Navigate to the website where you want to turn off Quickfix AI

  2. Click the Quickfix AI extension icon in your Chrome toolbar

  3. In the sidebar that opens, find the toggle switch at the top

  4. Click the toggle to turn off Quickfix AI for this website

  5. The page will reload automatically and Quickfix AI will be disabled

Once turned off, you'll see an exclamation mark on the Quickfix AI icon in your toolbar when you're on that website. The Quickfix AI icon won't appear in any text fields on that domain.

Good to know: This applies to the entire domain. If you turn off Quickfix AI on reddit.com, it will be disabled on all Reddit pages, not just the specific page you were on.

How to turn Quickfix AI back on

To turn Quickfix AI back on for a website, navigate to that site and click the Quickfix AI extension icon in your toolbar. You'll see the toggle switch is off.

Click the toggle to turn Quickfix AI back on for this website. The page will reload automatically and the extension will start working again.

The exclamation mark on the toolbar icon will disappear once you turn it back on.

Common reasons to turn off Quickfix AI on certain websites

Personal or sensitive sites

You might want to turn off Quickfix AI on sites where you handle sensitive information or prefer complete privacy. Even though Quickfix AI doesn't store your content, some users feel more comfortable disabling it entirely on certain domains.

Writing practice or authenticity

If you're writing content where you want to ensure everything is purely your own words without any AI suggestions, turning off Quickfix AI on that site removes the temptation.

Site conflicts

In rare cases, Quickfix AI might interfere with how a specific website works. If you notice issues with a site's text editor or form fields, turning off Quickfix AI on that domain can resolve the conflict.

Reducing distractions

Some people find the Quickfix AI icon distracting on sites where they don't need AI assistance. Turning it off on those sites creates a cleaner experience.

What happens when Quickfix AI is turned off on a site

When you turn off Quickfix AI on a website, the extension completely stops running on that domain. The icon won't appear in text fields, and Quickfix AI won't read any content from the page. You'll see an exclamation mark on the extension icon in your toolbar to remind you that Quickfix AI is disabled on this site.

Your saved preferences for that site remain intact. If you turn it back on later, any custom settings you had configured for that domain will still be there.

Turning off Quickfix AI on a site doesn't count as usage and doesn't affect your daily limit in any way.

Turning off specific sites vs disabling the extension

Turning off Quickfix AI on specific websites is different from completely disabling the extension in Chrome. When you turn it off on a site, Quickfix AI only stops working on that one domain. The extension continues running normally on all other websites.

If you want to temporarily disable Quickfix AI everywhere, right-click the extension icon in your Chrome toolbar and choose "Remove from Chrome" or disable it in chrome://extensions. You can re-enable it anytime without losing your settings.
